Thursday 26th July – Bike ***** Two Rivers – Deben to the Orwell – sunny and hot:)

For the second time this week Mag and I were up early with a flask made and out on our bikes at 6.30 but not before I had to pump my rear tyre up as completely flat, thank goodness for Slime:) This is definitely the best time to be out and about as fractionally cooler and no crowds just a few dog walkers, the odd swimmer and even a man in a canoe as we cycled along the prom in bright sunshine. Our aim was to stop by the River Deben for our cuppa but meet an old friend just past The Dip and stopped for a chat. My tyre went down again so I took the rear wheel off to check the inner-tube and it split in half spilling green Slime everywhere, lucky for me I had a spare tube so quickly replaced it and we were soon on our way. We very dirty hands we continued onto Felixstowe Ferry so we could wash our hands in the loo. Then we sat on the seat by the jetty looking up the Deben while having our cuppa in the lovely peace and quiet, we even saw a seal and fishing boats coming and going. Well rested we had a spin around the boat yard before biking back along the road turning right into Ferry Lane leading to the woods at the Grove. Mag heads for home while I continue through the town, down Bent Hill, along the prom to Landguard. Not much action in the Orwell so return home for breakfast after being out 3 hours 15 minutes covering 13 miles. The seabreeze didn’t play ball today but the weekend is looking very promising for the weekend for some windsurfing at Point Clear:)
